LESSON THREE - THIRD ARTICLE

LESSON THREE The white missionaries brought the gospel to the villages and saved a lot of souls including Mayowa's grandmother and this led to the possibility of Mayowa being able to attend school and eventually becoming who God had destined him to be.  Missionaries are people that are sent on a mission which includes preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, winning souls for Christ, establishment of churches, schools, hospitals for the sake of the gospel, raising disciples of Christ and teaching and empowering other believers to also be involved in the work of missions. The white missionaries were zealous for God's work and were courageous enough to take the gospel to the dreaded Aba-eegun village. Do not be afraid to share the good news of Christ Jesus to anyone as you are led by the Spirit. You do not know if that would be the only chance of that person hearing the gospel message. You should not hesitate to preach the goodnews of Christ to a dying world, bring the message of h

LESSON TWO      Mayowa concluded that there was no God because his grandmother, that served God wholeheartedly, died. Many people have come to this kind of conclusion due to one sad event or the other that might have happened to them. This can be said to have been one of the factors that contribute to atheism (absence of beliefs that any deity exists). However, this is not true, regardless of whatever may be the reason behind it. God has expressly revealed to man that he exists. Romans 1:19 "because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them." The creation reveals the creator. God is the creator of the universe. God created animals and made man in his own image and likeness. Therefore, there is no excuse for not believing in God. Also, God gave us a command to hear his only begotten Son Jesus Christ, as he is the way to him. We must not neglect so great a command to come to God through his Son, Jesus Christ.       Whatever has happe

DISOBEDIENCE      Disobedience simply means refusal to obey. It is a deliberate action that engages the consciousness of the mind in making a decision that negates the instructions given.      Mayowa's parents consciously disobeyed the order that was given that no one should go outside on that specific day. Disobedience can be sponsored by ignorance, delusion, deception and fantasy. However, the act is still disobedience, regardless of what caused it. Disobedience is very costly as it often attracts a penalty or punishment to itself.      Disobedience is rudely. It defies the authority that gives an order, that is why it automatically attracts a punishment. The focus of this write-up is to lay bare the gravity of disobedience, to reveal to us the costly nature of disobedience. Now, how does this apply to us?      God had given us a command concerning Jesus Christ in John 17:5 "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him." Every human being that lives o

SELF-WILL (DECEPTION)      Welcome to another session on the lessons being learnt from the third article on this blog. I hope you've been gaining some things from the various write-ups. If so, glory be to God. If not, I'd encourage you to have an opened heart to receive from the throne of grace. God bless you.      Today, we're going to learn about self-will (deception). Self-will is the quality of being willful (intentional, deliberate, stubborn, determined) and ignoring opposition.      Mayowa's parents were intentional in going out to get food that day they clearly knew they ought not to go out. They were so determined and this led to their deception. They were deceived to believe that nothing would happen to them, they'd go and come home before anyone would know about it.      Hmmmn. There are some times that we believe a lie and most times, this happens when we ignore the Holy Spirit. The truth is, when you wanted to venture into that business, the Holy Spirit

PERSEVERANCE      The word perseverance means continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition or previous failure. In the last write-up, we learnt about patience. Apart from being patient, there is also need to persevere.      Mayowa's parents were not able to persevere, maybe they had been a little bit patient but their patience was unaided. In order for one to reap the fruit of patience, one's patience needs to be accompanied by perseverance.      The definition of perseverance once again is continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition or previous failure. Mayowa's parents got discouraged to wait and they went out to look for food. In our course of waiting, discouragement may come. One might feel tired of waiting. One might feel as though the waiting period will never end, but, I have a good news; the waiting period has a timeframe. It is only for a certain period of time. It will surely end no matter how lon

Third article Lesson one

PATIENCE      Patience is the quality of being patient. To be patient means to be willing to wait if necessary; not losing one's temper while waiting. It also means physically able to suffer or bear.       Mayowa's parents were not able to wait, to physically suffer hunger for a day, therefore, they went out on that day they knew that they ought not to go out and they could not make it back home alive.       Some words associated with patience in the Bible include endurance, waiting, staying and steadfastness. Please note that while you are waiting, you are not wasting. Many people think they are wasting their time by waiting on the Lord and doing accurately his bidding but no, they are wrong. "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31) Romans 8:24-25 MSG says "That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting d

LESSONS LEARNT FROM THIRD ARTICLE

LESSON ONE MAYOWA'S PARENTS DIED EARLY AS A RESULT OF DISOBEDIENCE      Disobedience is a very great offence. Mayowa's parents were fully aware that they ought not to go out that day. They went out because there was no food at home. They could have waited that day and drank only water throughout the day rather than disobey but, they sought for another way and they thought they could easily come back without anyone knowing.       We are going to learn about obedience, patience, perseverance, self-will (deception) and disobedience. OBEDIENCE      Obedience is better than sacrifice. Hearken to instructions, especially those from God. Obedience starts from small matters. Fast today, you could not fast. Pray for someone, you didn't. Put on this particular cloth, you didn't. Do something good, you didn't. Great men and women in God's kingdom are people of obedience.      Noah heard the voice of God to build an ark according to a specific pattern, also to keep every li
