Lessons from the third article

 PERSEVERANCE

The word perseverance means continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition or previous failure. In the last write-up, we learnt about patience. Apart from being patient, there is also need to persevere.

Mayowa's parents were not able to persevere, maybe they had been a little bit patient but their patience was unaided. In order for one to reap the fruit of patience, one's patience needs to be accompanied by perseverance.

The definition of perseverance once again is continuing in a course of action without regard to discouragement, opposition or previous failure. Mayowa's parents got discouraged to wait and they went out to look for food. In our course of waiting, discouragement may come. One might feel tired of waiting. One might feel as though the waiting period will never end, but, I have a good news; the waiting period has a timeframe. It is only for a certain period of time. It will surely end no matter how long it may take. Ours is to be faithful, patient and to persevere. Continue to wait. Don't be discouraged.

Another thing to note is that during the waiting moments, oppositions will come. They may be external (from people, events or circumstances) or internal (from the mind). However, one must wave aside all oppositions and do the needful. That is why our walk with God is very important. Have a personal and growing relationship with God. Don't just feed on what your pastor or prophet or spiritual Father says, discover God for yourself. Know the voice of God. What is God saying as regards the situation you find yourself in? Renew your mind through the word of God and pray at all times. I see God helping us in Jesus name. Or, you've not even accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, this is the time to do so. Just say, dear God, I come to you today. I believe in your Son Jesus Christ who shed his blood for my sins. I accept Jesus Christ as my Saviour and my Lord. Forgive me of my sins and help me to walk worthy of you Lord unto all pleasing. Thank you Father. In Jesus Christ name I have prayed. If you have done that, I welcome you to God's family. His grace is sufficient for you. His grace will see you through.

Again, during the moments of waiting, one might be confronted with thoughts on the previous failure(s) either of yourself or of some people you know have treaded that path before. These can hinder one from having testimonies. One has to persevere and trust God for breakthrough. I see God helping us in Jesus name. God bless us all.

Romans 12:12 "rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer"
