More Lessons from the third article

 SELF-WILL (DECEPTION)

Welcome to another session on the lessons being learnt from the third article on this blog. I hope you've been gaining some things from the various write-ups. If so, glory be to God. If not, I'd encourage you to have an opened heart to receive from the throne of grace. God bless you.

Today, we're going to learn about self-will (deception). Self-will is the quality of being willful (intentional, deliberate, stubborn, determined) and ignoring opposition.

Mayowa's parents were intentional in going out to get food that day they clearly knew they ought not to go out. They were so determined and this led to their deception. They were deceived to believe that nothing would happen to them, they'd go and come home before anyone would know about it.

Hmmmn. There are some times that we believe a lie and most times, this happens when we ignore the Holy Spirit. The truth is, when you wanted to venture into that business, the Holy Spirit was nudging you but you ignored him. Before saying yes to that man, the Holy Spirit warned you but you didn't listen. Before going out on that day you had an accident, the Holy Spirit was there, but you ignored his presence. Before taking that decision, the Holy Spirit counselled you but you threw it to the trash bin. Oh! How many times we've been deceived because we refused to listen to the one who knows the end of a thing before the beginning.

Some ladies, these days, believe they can get married to someone without their parents' approval, ditto for some men, if you're in this category, please, repent. You have to get your parents' approval, no matter how tough it is to get it or how long it may take, trust God for how to go about it. God is in control. You know, some people think they can get by a wrong thing without anyone noticing. A Yoruba saying when transcribed goes thus "if a lie goes on for twenty years, truth will catch up with it in a single day".

I've come this day to tell us that we cannot live anyhow, especially when we've accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. To live fully and purposefully, we need to go to the one who has the manual for our lives and who wrote our lives' story from the beginning to the end. We need to rely on God and be obedient to him so that we will not fall into deception and hurt ourselves. I pray that the Lord will help us and heal every one that has fallen into a ditch, make a way of escape and take preeminence in all things in Jesus name.

I love you all. Till I come again, give yourself to obedience to God and discernment. God bless you.

1 John 3:24 The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.
