 EPISODE THREE

Mayowa arrived at Lagos by evening. He was welcomed by a Peugeot 504 car with the driver who smiled at him, warmly greeted him and helped him to put his luggages in the boot of the car, after which he opened the back seat door for him to sit at the owner's corner. He responded the greeting of the driver and threw all his weight on the seat as he entered, he was really exhausted from the cry, to the long and rough journey he had from his village to Lagos. He had not eaten anything. The driver handed over bread and butter to him with a bottled water so that he could refresh. No sooner had he finished eating that he slept off and was snoring. Oh no, he couldn't have escaped that. He had really tried.

It was already night when they got to The Crown's Model College, Obanikoro, Lagos. Mayowa was directed to his room and his room's key was given to him. He was told that his roommate would be coming the next day so he would have to stay alone that night. He thanked the driver and the hostel master and went into his room quickly and locked the door. He dropped his luggages at a corner in the room and jumped on the bed, put off his shoes and laid himself down. His mind raced back to how his grandmother died and wondered how the burial went. His grandmother really served the Lord, even with her age. He remembered how she would cook delicious food during Easter picnic and would share to church members on Easter Mondays. Again, Mayowa concluded in his heart that there was no God. If there was, he shouldn't have watched such a fervent Christian die like that after all they say that God is love. He slept off amidst his thoughts and he woke up to a bright shining light of the sun. It's day time already and the time is 10:00 am. He wondered how he slept for so long even with his burdened heart, then, he remembered he had had a dream. In his dream, his grandmother was telling him not to forsake the Lord, that it was time for her to leave the earth, that was why she had to heed the master's call to a better place. She said that she's really enjoying where she is now and would love him to strive to enter into that place as well. She ended her statement with this word "Mayowa, the call of God is upon your life. Hearken to his call". He wondered how it could be possible for him to have seen his grandmother, who had died, in his dream. He was scared. Just then, he heard a knock on his door. His heartbeat increased. Could it be his grandmother? He was reluctant to open the door. He however summoned up courage to open it.

Mayowa's roommate came in with his bags and baggages, exhausted and really fatigued. He had had a rough, long journey like Mayowa. He introduced himself to be Emmanuel and greeted Mayowa. Mayowa asked him how his journey went and he replied that it was really a rough one, also, they had a lot of stop over, etc. Mayowa allowed him to rest, they would continue their discussion as time goes by. At least, he now has someone to talk to and rub minds with. He was grateful to God, but then, he remembered he had concluded that there was no God. He quickly waved the thought off and went to the bathroom to refresh himself. By the time he returned, Emmanuel was fast asleep. He went to meet the Hostel master for more details about his admission and the necessary steps he needed to take.
